Ok, I know this isn't about Leica gear, but it is of interest to me. I have just been offered a Meopta Opemus 4 B&W Enlarger, complete with a Leica 50mm Focotar lens. All in good condition. I have developed and made contacts for quite a while, now I can go into enlargement. But I have never heard of Meopta, which was made in Czechoslovakia.

Stale acoustics deleted says:Hi,I just bought an Opemus 6, the box said Opemus 6 colour (like here ), but i don't have a colour head with it, just a regular head (like the left one on the box). Can i enlarge coulour negatives woth this enlarger?? The original manual seems to say so, but i couldnet imagine you can do that without settling the yellow, cyan and magenta levers (which aren't there on this machine).Anyone has experiences with that? Thanks a lot. Seems a nice enlarger though.Grtz,Lotte12:47PM, 10 May 2013 PDTsays:it is (theoretically) possible to make color prints without colour head, but not without adjusting the colours.

Instead of the colour head you would need colour filters. Which are harder to get than a colourhead. And would make enlarging much more uncomfortable.

The Meopta Color 3 colourhead is quite easy to find and normally inexpensive, so I would suggest to buy such a head, if you want to make colour prints. If you buy one, watch out that it includes the right mixing chamber and the transformator. (is it named 'TR-100'?)Personally I do prefer the colourhead over the condenserhead also for B/W, much less problems with dust and scratches on the negatives.Originally posted 78 months ago.namir535 (a group admin) edited this topic 78 months ago.says:Yes agree totally. You can make a bw print from a col meg using high contrast filter settings. I have a Magnifax with color 3 head that i use for bw Printing.78 months ago.
