This was another post by lostflower4 at PPTC, so he really deserves the thanks for this one. This performance was very rare and its very existence was questionable until recently. This came as FM0, but I doubt this claim. Quality is unbelieveable (12/10). It's theorised this is from the BBC reels.

Cocteau Twins were an innovative and influential Scottish band. Forming in 1979 in Grangemouth, Scotland, UK (the name taken from an obscure song by fellow Scots ), they built a sound based on woozy atmospherics and singer 's unmatchable vocals, most of which featured lyrics of made-up words and words plucked at random from the dictionary. Their first release was ' in 1982 on 4AD Records, which was received well. Founding member Will Heggie left the group in 1983 and soon joined fellow Grangemouth band.

In the sixties, like any band worth its salt, spent many hours recording sessions for BBC radio programmes like Saturday Club and Top Gear. They did this, not because they wanted to play their current hits live on air, but because under a complex arrangement between the BBC and the Musician’s Union there were a restricted number of hours that records could be played on the radio. The upside of this arcane arrangement is we now have wonderful live versions of The Who’s hits as well as album tracks and covers. This album is like a window on the past, one in which band’s could produce brilliant versions of their records because, night after night they played live in clubs, colleges and theatres. The Who’s BBC Sessions entered the UK album charts on 26 February 2000 and it is a veritable treasure trove of classic recordings.
